Classic Cover of the Week 5/6/2018

New Week, New Covers!!

One in a long line of fantastic Bill Everett covers, this one comes from the Venus series.  Though this started as a romance comic, it switched over to a horror comic to grab attention during the early 50s new trend scene.

44 Universal copies of this comic on the CGC census with an average grade of 5.11.  3 8.5s are tied for the top spot with a lone 1.8 at the bottom.
SHELF DATE of December 1951

Schomburg paints at it’s finest.  Sometimes overlooked, though as more eyes catch these late issue Exciting books, the price should see a gain.  Watching one end in auction on Ebay as I type this, with 1 other slab sitting in buy it now for 500.00 for a 5.0.  Might prove to be a bargain if this issue catches on.

29 Universal copies on the census, 9.6 at the top(assume a pedigree copy) and a 4.0 on the bottom of the scale.  Averaging out at 7.34, it seems attractive copies are still out there.

SHELF DATE of July 1948

As always, thanks for looking, folks!
