New Years & New Noise

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing – Walt Disney

Greetings from the desert fellow CBSI friends. It’s hard to believe we already are turning the calendar to 2018. Not that we write checks for payment that often anymore with the advent of bill pay, but anyone already shred a check due to the fact you wrote 2017 as the year? Consider me guilty of that already. In keeping with the overall tone of the “One Year Later” posts, I am going to infuse some covers potentially that were under the radar yet stand out for the art for that particular week. They may not have increased monetary value, but worth a look for PC or as reference to a up and coming artist.

The Week of January 4th, 2017 had a smorgasbord of talent from the kitchen, however not one clear cut winner dish that surpassed the pack.

  • A few sleeper cover B Rebirth titles that may bode well down the road
  • IDW Transformers & Uncle Scrooge variant covers have small runs! Keep an eye on these and others of the same ratio for nice turns down the road. There is a market for these!
  • Moon Knight 1:25s do well in the aftermarket for the most part. This weeks provide a 1300 run with a very cool cover. Be on the lookout in the wild!
  • Unstoppable Wasp is like MG & DD in the fact that they have low runs with the variants being even more minuscule. There are a few 1st appearances throughout this series that have some media potential reminiscent of DC Superhero Girls. Credit goes to Kevin Erickson for the below data from a previous thread several months ago within a forum.
    • Issue # 1 Nadia gets the idea to form G.I.R.L
    • Issue # 2 1st appearance of G.I.R.L.
    • Issue # 3 1st app. of Shay Smith & Priya Argawall
