The Day After Wednesday for 1/27/18

Want to know which books from yesterday’s new deliveries are already heating up and which ones are cooling? Here’s a “Day After” list that we hope will help! This isn’t a reflection on the quality, collectability or long term potential of recently released books. This is based on today’s market price for books that came out on Wednesday, 1/24/18.   They could still be at your shop.

LEGION #1 (OF 5) (MARVEL) – All the LEGION variants seem to be doing decently. The 1:10 TV variant is selling for $11 shipped and the 1:25 Henrichon Variant is at $24 shipped. The highlight is the Sienkiewicz standard variant that’s selling for $13 shipped. Granted, this is nothing crazy, but it’s still solid for a cover price book.

PHOENIX RESURRECTION RETURN JEAN GREY #4 (OF 5) SINGH 1:25 VARIANT (MARVEL) – Here’s the big winner of the week, and rightfully so. This is just a gorgeous cover and was an immediate want when I saw the preview image. Some recent sales have been as low as $38 shipped, though most seem to average between $45-$48.  Mukesh Singh is officially on the radar, despite already having some in-demand variants like TOTALLY AWESOME HULK #15 1:25. I don’t think this will be a big book long term, but it will definitely stay a solid $40 variant for a while.

TEEN TITANS #12 2ND PRINTING (DC) – I figured that everyone would be on this and copies would be flooded. Well, it IS flooded and everyone IS on it… but it’s still selling for $10-11.

THANOS #15 (MARVEL) – This is selling for a very solid $16 shipped. The big question lies in whether Cosmic Ghost Rider has any longevity. Seeing the success and staying power of (what was intended as) throwaway characters like Spider-Gwen and Gwenpool, the answer is: yes, the character has longevity. The one thing Marvel does well is finding a new/popular character and pushing that character into more and more books, for better or worse. Cates is promising big things in the next issue, so the ride doesn’t seem to be ending soon.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN VENOM INC OMEGA #1 1:50 DELL’OTTO (MARVEL) – This is still holding at $100, some higher and some lower.

AVENGERS #676 BROOKS COVER A (MARVEL) – This saw a fall from a height of $20 to its current $10-13 shipped.

BATMAN WHITE KNIGHT #2 2ND PRINT (DC) – Still $10-11 shipped.

CALL OF THE SUICIDE FOREST #1 (OF 5) (AMIGO) – Here’s another hold over from last week and still selling for $10-11 shipped.

ICE CREAM MAN #1 (IMAGE) – Prices are all over for this book. Copies have mostly seen a dip down to $10 shipped.

STRANGERS IN PARADISE XXV #1 BLANK VARIANT (ABSTRACT STUDIOS) – A slight bump up to a steady $13-14 shipped.

TEETHER #1 (OF 4) (ANTARTIC) – Last week this was selling for $10 shipped. This week, prices have ranged from $7 to $15 shipped ($25 if you count a UK to US sale).

SINK #4 (OF 5) (COMIX TRIBE) – Cover B seems to be doing decently at $7 shipped. Copies were selling for around $10 shipped earlier in the week. However, seeing how few copies are currently listed, the price could go up.

ABBOTT #1 (BOOM) – Selling for cover. However, as I write this, there’s not a single copy available for sale on eBay.   That doesn’t necessarily measure demand or value, but it’s still worth keeping an eye on.

AVENGERS #677 (MARVEL) – #677 didn’t get any of the steam off of #676. Even the 1:25 variant is available for $14.99.

DETECTIVE COMICS #973 ALBURQUERQUE VARIANT (DC) – This B Variant had some strong interest earlier in the week. However, the market is only seeing this sell for cover and even a little less.

FLASH #39 VARIANT (DC) – This issue number variant (700), is only selling for cover. However, sets of Superman #34 (#800), Wonder Woman #34 (#700) and Batman #35 (#800) are seeing high sales of $45 shipped. This is interesting since all seem to sell for a little over cover, except for Batman #35 which sells for $12 shipped.

MEGA MAN MASTERMIX #1 1:10 PORTER VARIANT (UDON) – I’ll admit, I LOVE this cover. Not a single store had one near me thanks to low orders on this high cover price book ($7.99). Luckily, it’s only $13 shipped on eBay right now. Yes please.

MARVEL TWO-IN-ONE #2 DELL’OTTO VARIANT (MARVEL) – This has been mostly selling at cover price, with some outlier $11 shipped sales. However, it’s worth noting that there are ONLY a few left on eBay and primed to make a jump up to $13 shipped. With this being Dell’Otto and a low print book (most likely), this is a safe buy.

RAVEN DAUGHTER OF DARKNESS #1 (OF 12) SIENKIEWICZ (DC) – Here’s another Sienkiewicz variant (working both major publisher camps this week) that was way less discussed this week.

WONDER WOMAN #39 FRISON VARIANT (DC) – Selling for Cover.  Still awesome.
