The Day After Wednesday for 10/6/2017

Want to know which books from yesterday’s new deliveries are already heating up and which ones are cooling? Here’s a “Day After” list that we hope will help! This isn’t a reflection on the quality, collectability or long term potential of recently released books. This is based on today’s market price for books that came out on Wednesday, 10/4/17. They could still be at your shop.

BATMAN THE DAWNBREAKER #1 (METAL) (DC) – I love this cover.  However, Green Lantern #9 Sciver Variant is one of my all time favorite covers.  This feels like an extension of that.  AND it’s all shiny and chrome, therefore it will ride eternal.  This is selling for $12-$13 shipped.

WEED MAGIC (BLISS ON TAP) – This book came out of nowhere and I can’t imagine many retailers ordering this. It should be pretty hard to find. Action Comic #1 Homage collectors will want these for their collections.

REDNECK #6 FELICI PINK/RED SIGNATURE VARIANT (IMAGE) – I had mentioned that these would settle to about $25, and that’s just what they did. Copies are selling for about $30 shipped. Some are a tad higher and some are lower.

SPIDER-GWEN #24 (MARVEL) – The standard cover is still standing strong at $12/13 shipped and the Venom Vulture cover is about $10 shipped..   The J. Scott Campbell covers are still the way to go for this.  Those are doing pretty great with the Gwenom and Gwen virgin covers at $100 each and the Spider-Gwen & Gwen (with headphones) covers at around $20/$30 each.

DUCKTALES #1 1:25 SKETCH VARIANT (IDW) – I told you last week about how hard this was to find, but I didn’t think it would jump up to a $75 book. There’s some strong interest propelling old and newer versions of DuckTales, Darkwing Duck, Gargoyles, etc. Many of these old Disney shows are getting some love lately. I also fondly remember watching these after school. I get it.  The harder to find variants are pretty good investments right now.

NADA.  NONE THIS WEEK.  – Quiet week. I contemplated putting in a Rick & Morty meme in this section and then I thought bubbled above my head a scorned faced Trey… hence the South Park meme instead.  You’re welcome.

CHARLTON ARROW #1 (CHARLTON) – I thought this was selling well until I saw the $7.99 price tag. It’s just selling for cover price.

HARLEY & IVY MEET BETTY & VERONICA #1 (OF 6) – Great Hughes cover. AND it’s only cover price! Market prices are all over the place in the $5-10 range with the majority around $8 shipped. And there are a buttload…

(which is an actual measurement: Believe it or not, a “buttload” is an actual trade unit of volume used for wines and alcoholic drinks.
1 butt
= 126 U.S. gallons
= 104.92 UK gallons
= 476.961 litres
= 2 hogheads (each 63 U.S. gallons)
= 1,008 pints
= 16,128 shots)

F’Ing Science!)

… listed and very few are selling. Hughes has a way of seeing nice market gains over the years. Tuck these away for about 10 years.

HACK SLASH VS VAMPIRELLA #1 (OF 5) (DYNAMITE) – I actually like the NYCC card variant for this.

PUNISHER PLATOON #1 (OF 6) (MARVEL) – The variants are selling a little under ratio. The Checchetto 1:25 is at $20 shipped and the Brase 1:50 is going for $30-35 shipped.

SHADOW BATMAN #1 (DYNAMITE) – Dang, a Finch 1:100 sketch selling for $20!!? I will definitely buy one at that price!

SLOTS #1 (IMAGE) – Selling for cover. However, the Megabox variant is doing okay at $13.

SPIRITS OF VENGEANCE #1 (OF 5) (MARVEL) – The 1:50 is selling for about $13-$20 shipped. It’s…… lacking something.

TICK 2017 #1 (NEC)

VENOM #155 MATTINA 1:50 VARIANT (MARVEL) – AWESOME cover. Love it. Unfortunately, there’s enough copies listed to keep the price held down around $34 to $40 shipped. This is one of those covers that will creep back up in the long run. I recommend tucking this away for a few months and just keep an eye on them.
