The Wednesday One 02/06/19

Welcome to the Wednesday One! 02/06/19

The flips aren’t great, few covers, and some solid reads makes for an okay week. Let’s check it out.

Red Sonja Vol 8 #1 Cover N Incentive Joe Jusko Painted Sneak Peek Variant Cover 1:75

This one might have a chance to do alright. I don’t think anything amazing though. It is a really good not great Jusko, but it is a high ratio for Dynamite. Looks like 5 presales and none were on Tues. Most recently $80. I don’t see many selling but only 2 list bins right now also. I’d only grab for PC unless you can score it cheap. I’m shy on this one well under half ratio. I kinda wish it wasn’t as zoomed in. The card might be too much background though.

Uncanny X-Men Vol 5 #11 Cover I Incentive Scott Williams Variant Cover 1:50

I really like this cover. It reminds me of classic 90s x-men. That wolvie is on point. I don’t see it going up to ratio, but I think it hangs around over half ratio, $35-45 is my guess. There are a number listed and only one sold today for $25. I think this is more a PC or pass book as I think you would have to grab $15 or less to safe flip which is a tall order.

Avengers Vol 7 #14 Cover C Incentive Matteo Scalera Wraparound Variant Cover 1:25

I like it for the cover. It isn’t amazing, but it would be a good pc grab. It has a great style.

Magical Beatdown #1

This is getting some buzz, but will it last? A few presales of $14-16 shows promise. It has a $6 cover so maybe it is under-ordered more than most small indies. The whole book is only in the colors pink and blue. Might be interesting, but I think the market floods and it dies off. Grab for cover and sell quick if you want to try it, seems to have good movement. I might grab it as a reader.

Cool Covers

Batman Vol 3 #64 Cover B Variant Sean Murphy Cover

Murphy did a great job with this bats cover. Part one of the 4 part crossover with HiC.

Project Superpowers Vol 3 #6 Cover G Incentive Francesco Mattina Virgin Cover

I like this cover but it isnt amazing. I like it for cover only and even then. I will probably pass though as I don’t care about this book. It probably has a small run so it might be a long grab for Mattina collectors though that number is probably shrinking.

Tony Stark Iron Man #8 Cover A Regular Alexander Lozano Cover

This cover is amazing and would have been great as a virgin cover.

Daredevil Vol 6 #1 Cover D Incentive Gabrielle Dell Otto Variant Cover 1:10

I really like this cover and it should be easy to grab. It won’t heat as it is a low ratio and DD#1 should do pretty well. Selling $6-10. I like it for PC at a few bucks over cover if you can find it clean. The black cover with Marvel’s inferior paper and inks will probably make 9.8s tough.

Immortal Hulk #13 Cover A Regular Alex Ross Cover

Worth it for the cover alone. Good story makes it a def grab.

Harley Quinn Vol 3 #58 Cover B Variant Derrick Chew Cover

I’m not a fan of the sideways covers in general, but this one does it well. Lot of great colors and there is a lot going on.

Female Furies #1 Cover B Variant Francesco Mattina Cover

I’m not sure what to think about this book, but I’ll give it a shot. It is probably a mini series I can miss. If I do grab it this cover is a looker.

Read it

Wasted Space #6 by Michael Moreci

The art is tough for some folks but a great read worth a grab.

Monstrous #3 by Greg Wright

I like this book but asking about it at the LCS gets confusing with Monstress. Only 1 more issue after this.

Wolverine Long Night Adaptation #2 by Ben Percy

Really cool how this was a 10 episode podcast. Got a classic feel to it so far. I think I’m in for the run. Iirc it is a 5 issue series.

These Savage Shores #3 by Ram V

This book is off to a fantastic start. There are a few reprints if you need to catch up.

Cemetery Beach #6 Cover B Variant Jason Howard Impact Cover. Written by Warren Ellis

This is a really great read so far. The art really fits the action and there is a lot of action.

Oberon #1 Cover B Variant Marco Rudy Variant Cover. Written by Ryan Parrott

The premise about being a former fairy king didn’t peak my interest, but the art is interesting.

Sword Daughter #6 Cover A Regular Ben Oliver Cover. Written by Brian Wood

I keep forgetting about this book. I read the first few so I know I’m behind, but I remember liking it. The B cover is pretty cool too.

  • Wrath Of The Eternal Warrior #1 Cover J One Dollar Debut Edition – $1
  • True Believers Captain Marvel Spider-Man & Ms Marvel #1 – $1
  • True Believers Captain Marvel Ms Marvel #1 – $1

Bonus look back – how did last week do a week later?

How did last week’s spec end up doing? We take a look at last week’s predictions and see if we did OK one week later!!!

(Last week’s spec will be quoted like this. What it really did will look like this.)

WWE Forever #1 Cover A Regular Rahzzah Cover – This book isn’t cheap, but I love this cover. I grabbed 2 for my PC, but if it heats up I may have to sell one. Rahzzah covers are favorite of mine. Cool cover – this had some early heat and is still going for over cover when it does sell.

Edgar Allan Poes Snifter Of Terror #4 – I have really liked this title and the covers have been awesome. Some have even heated up a little bit. Cool cover – had a few $10 sales but it is basically at cover now.

Solo A Star Wars Story Adaptation #4 Cover B Incentive Yasmine Putri Variant Cover 1:25 – These covers are rare and Putri has a following. I think if you find it cheap it is a grab, but sell it quickly as these seem to fall off quickly too. I can only find one sold today for $20. I think half ratio is a safe pickup. $20-30 a few days ago. An auction that ends soon is at $15+.

Wonder Woman Vol 5 #63 Cover B Variant Kamome Shirahama Cover – Preselling for $10 and selling out superfast online. I love when a DC B cover is the “One” just like this. Awesome cover, accessible, and flippable. Was double cover now seems to be back to cover. I’m glad I got 2 clean ones for my PC.

Wrap Up

I was super late this week. It isn’t “the night before” this week, but it is here. Nothing amazing, no “One, but some food for thought. I feel like I’m missing a few so if you see something lemme know. Thanks for reading and happy Wednesday.
