The Weekend After Wednesday for 3/23/2019

Want to know which books from Wednesday’s new deliveries are already heating up and which ones are cooling? Here’s a “Weekend After” list that we hope will help! This isn’t a reflection on the quality, collectability or long term potential of recently released books. This is based on today’s market price for books that came out on Wednesday, 3/20/2019. They could still be at your shop.

DARK RED #1 STROMAN 1:10 VARIANT (AFTERSHOCK) – This Aftershock variant is selling for $35 to $40.  The standard first print is going for $10 shipped.  The Shannon Maer store exclusives are in high demand and going for large amounts.  The trade and virgin set is selling for $280 and the bloody virgin sells for $200 on its own.  The C2E2 variants are also showing promise as well.

DIE #1 4TH PTG (IMAGE) – On Friday, it was announced that DIE will have a 5th print.  That has pushed this hard to find 4th print to almost $20 shipped (which is about what the 1st print did).  The limited to 500 copies virgin variant is going for just a tad less at $19.  I hate to say it, but this is really following the path of SAGA in terms of that early initial heat.  We’ll see how it holds over the next couple months.

IMMORTAL HULK #15 ROSS VARIANT (MARVEL) – Immortal Hulk is a monster series, literally.  There’s no stopping this run.  This issue is selling for $12-$14 shipped.  The regular cover is not too far behind and selling for $10 shipped.

NAOMI #3 (DC) – While I’ve missed the Naomi and Immortal Hulk trains, it’s absolutely refreshing to see folks chasing books for the story and characters. Price wise, it’s been bouncing around from $10 to $15.  While there are still some cheaper copies listed, it does seem to be moving towards a steady $15 book.

MARVEL TALES THOR #1 BARTEL VARIANT 1:50 BARTEL VARIANT (MARVEL) – While this variant was selling for $75/$80 last week, the most recent sale was for ratio at $50.  Looks like Black Widow is the winner out of these 1:50 Bartel variants.

AGE OF X-MAN APOCALYPSE AND X-TRACTS #1 (OF 5) NAKAYAMA 1:50 VARIANT (MARVEL) – Sales are up for this variant.  Last week, this was selling for ratio.  It’s currently selling for $71 and surrounding sales at $60+.  The future of this variant depends on continual use of “Unveil”.

AVENGERS NO ROAD HOME #5 (MARVEL) – After hitting $12 last week, it’s since come down a tad to $10 shipped.

MAGNIFICENT MS MARVEL #1 (MARVEL) – Both the 1:50 Elsa Charretier and Babs Tarr variants are holding their ground and still selling decently.  The 1:50 is selling for $59 and the 1:25 for $35.

UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL #42 1:25 VARIANT (MARVEL) – I forgot this one last week.  It was impossible to find and was hitting over $100.  It’s currently selling for $90.

No hot books this time last year.

HONOR AND CURSE #2 (MAD CAVE) – The first issue was a solid $20 book upon release.  It has since settled to $10 shipped.  The 2nd issue is also starting to see some $10 sales.  However, there are enough copies available at cover price.

MEET THE SKRULLS #2 RAHZZAH 1:25 VARIANT – This variant  hit a height of $65 on Wednesday, but has since settled to $20 – $25.  It could have legs and pick back up.

SPIDER-MAN LIFE STORY #1 (OF 6) 1:50 MARCOS MARTIN VARIANT (MARVEL) – High ratio obscure Spider-Man variants have a history of doing well long-term.  This is selling slightly below ratio.  However, there are several auctions looking to pass that.
