Variant Heat Check for 12/18/18

Spider-man 2099 #1 Toy Biz Variant

HEAT CHECK STATUS:

I highlighted this book a couple of weeks when rumors were floating of Spider-man 2099 appearing in the new Into the Spider-verse movie. The rumors ended up being true, and all things Spider-man 2099 started selling like hot cakes. Like I said previously, high grade copies are going to be hard to come by since these were included with a toy. A 9.8 just sold for a whopping $900, while a raw went for $125.

Amazing Spider-man #638 Fan Expo Variant

HEAT CHECK STATUS:

Sales of Stan Lee signed books are starting to slow down, but they are still selling well. This Fan Expo swipe of AF 15 has pretty much disappeared from the market, and a graded 9.8 (unsigned) sold for $250, a Stan signed 9.8 went for $550, while a triple signed 9.8 (including Stan) went for $770. What’s interesting is a double signed 9.8 that didn’t include Stan only went for $115.

Justice League of America #50 1:50 Lee Variant

HEAT CHECK STATUS:

I had no clue that this issue had dried up. Only one for sale, and only one sold this week, but at $200 raw you better take notice! The 75th Anniversary set is tough to put together because of books like this one, Adventure Comics #512, and Wonder Woman #600 sketch variant.

Batman Damned #1 Lee Variant

HEAT CHECK STATUS:

Batman Damned #2 came out last week, which sparked an interest in the first issue because DC refused to print a second printing. This ultimately hurt retailers who were trying to sell their customer base issue #2, but helped to prop up the secondary market as copies have gone back to $60. It sure looked like Harley was about to go topless in issue #2.
