Variant Heat Check for 5/15/18

All-New Marvel Now Point One #1 1:75 McNiven Variant

I had a hard time decided on this book or Captain Marvel #17 2nd print, but Point One is considerably more rare and the true first appearance of Kamala Khan. Ms. Marvel spec has been on the back burner for some time, but one sentence from Mr. Feige sparked a new fire. A raw sold for $325, while a 9.6 went for $420, with none on the horizon.

Uncanny X-Force #20 1:50 Renaud Variant

Khoi Cakes pointed out a crazy auction that ended up at $850, which was $200 higher than the previous sale that day (albiet for a much lower grade). In what seems like a reaction to losing the auction, a raw copy went for $800, while a 9.6 went for $900. It seemed like this book was destined for a price decrease due to a venom variant dump a few months ago, but it seems to be doing alright.

Wonder Woman #38 1:100 Finch Variant

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any crazier than the Uncanny X-force sales, four 9.8 copies of Wonder Woman #38 sold for around $750 each! I have no idea what would spark these sales, but this book has become impossible to find as copies have all but dried up into collector’s hands.

Venomized #5 1:25 Sandoval Variant

I guess McFarlane swipes never get old. A ton of these books moved in the past week, getting around $60, which is awesome for a 1:25. I could see this settling as a $100 book once the flood recedes.

Note: Variants appearing in the Top 10 will not appear on this list due to contractual obligations.

Curious what happened last week? You can check it out here.
