Variant Heat Check for 9/4/19

Uncanny X-Men #510 Campbell Partial Sketch Variant

HEAT CHECK STATUS:

J. Scott Campbell has been on a down trend for awhile, as I’ve seen some of his popular and pricey variants from a few years ago go for a lot less than I was expecting. Maybe he’s finally saturating his market, but what you can’t saturate is the rarity and beauty of this book. A 9.6 sold for a cool $8K, while a 8.5 went for $1,500.

TMNT #95 Bates 1:10 Variant

HEAT CHECK STATUS:

Jennika isn’t dead. On the contrary, after speaking with Kevin Eastman last weekend I believe she is here for the long haul (check out my Colorado Springs Comic Con review coming soon!). Graded copies are coming back, and amazingly a 9.9 appeared for sale and went for $600!!! A 9.8 sold for a mere $207, while raw copies are trending towards $100, settling in at $88.

Spawn #299 Toronto Fan Expo Variant

HEAT CHECK STATUS:

Do you know what happens when people get greedy? Print runs double and prices come crashing back to earth. This book can barely get $60, which is still a good price but a far cry from the $500 that the SDCC variant was getting.
