Web of Spider-Man #8 – July 2010 – 1:15 Brian Stelfreeze Variant

Happy Friday guys and gals! Welcome back to another episode of Covers from the Unknown!

I happened to be going through some $1 bins at a local con a couple weeks ago, when I came across this comic, of which I have never seen it before. It is the Web of Spider-Man (2009 series) #8, 1:15 Heroic Age variant, by Brian Stelfreeze. Being a Hawkeye fan, I had to pick up this variant for $1, as I have never seen it before. It wasn’t until I started to do some research that I figured out why I have never seen this one before. It looks to be a ghost. I looked high and low, and cannot find this comic anywhere online, or in the wild. I looked for “sold” comics on the bay and cant find any either. Am I sitting on a gold mine? No, I highly doubt it. In all honesty, the cover isn’t the best, but anytime you have Spidey, Wolvie and Hawkeye on a cover, you cant go wrong.

This series of Web of Spidey never really took off, so by the end of the series, the print run was around 12-15k. This comic had a print run of 16k, so it being a 1:15 variant, you are only looking at about 1,000 of these out there. But like I said, this series never took off so not many stores bought the 15 needed to receive the variant. Mark my words, there are under 1,000 out there. Being a Spidey variant, maybe, just maybe, this one will take off eventually. If you can find one, grab it. I think eventually this variant will see some heat.

Happy Hunting gang!
