Week 42 The Road to Baltimore Part 2

Well, looks like I was able to make a second instalment in this “road to Baltimore Comic Con special edition”. This week I’ll showcase 3 more artist who will be appearing at the convention.

First up is Jenny Frison, who i’m sure many of you are already familiar with. Frison has been featured on our site before for her incredible covers. When I was scrolling through the Baltimore Comic Con guest list, I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to find an image by Frison that wasn’t a published cover. Luckily i stumbled across this Psylocke image I had never seen before. Since I know she’s pretty popular these days I figured she’d be a good artist to feature.

The next artist should need no introduction, but sadly he does. Adam Warren. Warren is probably best known for his work on the comic Dirty Pair, which is based off a series of manga and anime from Japan by the same name. Adam’s one of the first artist to draw in the manga style here in the states, which is known as amerimanga. Which is kinda funny, since Warren’s really evolved and created a distinct style that’s instantly recognizable and has even influenced japanese manga artist over the last few decades. These days he primarily works on his own creator owned property published by Dark Horse Comics called Empowered. Which he writes and draws.

What’s really crazy is Warren’s instagram account is not just manga style imagery, oh no, he mostly posts anatomy studies that are very different than his usual work, yet still have tells to his own personal style. Click the link and check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Last up this week is Simon Bisley, aka the Biz. I’m not even going to act like it was a hard choice to pick an image to showcase by the Biz. No question, this image was in an artbook and a calendar and it’s my favorite image by him. Maybe it’s the Frazetta vibe I get from it, don’t really know and don’t really care, Biz’s paintings are just incredible. Nuff said.

That’s it for this week, see you next Monday featuring more artist who’ll be attending the Baltimore Comic Con 2018!
